Ran d 24 #1 Posted October 24, 2019 Fuel Shutoff valve for Electro 12 has been leaking for many years. Fuel would leak around valve shaft and packing gland nut. Removed the original, wore out, fiber gland packing. Purchased new, neoprene o-ring packing from local hardware store and carefully installed to the valve shaft (needs to be between threads and knob). The o-ring should fit the valve shaft diameter without too much stretching ( o-ring I.D. about the same as the valve shaft diameter). Apply a small amount of Vaseline to the packing O.D. Thread the valve into the valve body until fully engaged with all threads. 'Finger" tight the gland nut as required to point where fuel stops leaking. When/if o-ring wears out, replace with new o-ring.
