A new-ish WH on the fleet

Recommended Posts

Evening Guy's, I don't think I have posted a thread about this C-125 but if I have please feel free to read it again :(

As some of you may or may not know I bought this C-125 from Jim (Mith) a little while back. It came minus engine rear wheels or trans, but that's what the spares pile is for.

A big thank you to Rob at this point for driving me down to Jim's place and letting me fill your car up with dirty WH parts

Back at base the car was soon unloaded and the parts piled together.

Kinda a lowrider squashed look.

100_6536.jpg

Work started the next day with the trans from a 312-8 being bolted onto the chassis.

100_6540.jpg

Followed by a pair of rear wheels from a 71 Raider 10 and the C-125's front axle being bolted on.

100_6549.jpg

Enter Garry playing the "Where does this part go" game

100_6550.jpg

Getting there now, it's looking like a WH once again, but something is missing :omg:

An engine, that's what was missing.

This engine is a 14hp that came out of a 314-8.

It had been living in my Raider 10 for a while, but as that was due another engine we pulled the engine anyway.

100_6555.jpg

With the engine in and running all that was left was to go for a test drive around the garden.

100_6563.jpg

The fun didn't last long though as the fuel tap and tank (both 314-8 items) (that 314-8 certainly has helped other WH's live) decided to throw a wobbly and leak from the tap and that rubber grommet :omg:

100_6579.jpg

I can't remember what this fuel tank came from, but with the aid of a few bungee's it brought the WH back to life again.

Need to sort those wheels though.

100_6600.jpg

Speaking of wheels Look at the state of these rims from my 312-8, years of the previous owner using tire seal type stuff had left a mess that had glued the tire to the rims.. Not nice

100_6622.jpg

Also not nice is the job of cleaning all the rust and rubbish off the rims... needed doing though.

100_6625.jpg

Silver paint makes everything look like new again :(

100_6626.jpg

100_6627.jpg

That looks much better, gone is the rust and white paint, this years "in" look is silver

Garry is a good bloke, always helping me out, this time having fun at the lathe

100_6574.jpg

And the fruits of his labor were a new pin and spacers so we could fit the tow hitch.

100_6577.jpg

Due to the Raider 10's new engine needing a part to get it it running (a thread on that coming up) it was decided to put the C-125-ish on grass cutting duties which meant sorting out a working PTO.

Enter the 314 parts pile again to get the PTO lever and rod.

100_6573.jpg

A bit of :omg: ing soon had it fitted.

100_6583.jpg

That's the C-125 story up to date folks.

Here's how she looks now, without the extra fuel tank on the back, the cutting deck and belt drive from the Raider 10..... Oh and water filled rear wheels for the extra traction and just to try it out.

 A bit slow posting a reply here Guys, Sorry.

Nice work. When will it make its video debut?

Video's are a bit of a sore point at the mo Mich, just found out this morning that Youtube didn't "like my choice of music" :omg: on a couple of my vids and decided to disable them... AArrrgghhh..

So, when will it make it's video debut? Not quite yet but soon..

Well, can't make a vid with it misfiring, to be sorted next week.

ian...I've got some sweatshirts that look like that...comes from not having enough space between things in the shop. Nice job on the tractor, and ain't it nice to have parts?

Howdo Steve? Do you have the matching burn holes through your sweatshirt and T-shirt? I think I just like working close to things.

Thanks for the nice job, and yep having spare parts is great. They keep my fleet rolling.. well almost.

Nice work, Ian. You're one of the best when it comes to building things from parts you have laying around.

Thank you Ray.

Good Job Ian!! Nice to see ya posting again.(Or maybe i just missed your posts? )

Thanks Scott. You didn't miss my posts, I had to have a bit of time off to sort things out.

Just wasnt the same w/o your builds to follow!!

Stop that.. Im feeling guilty enough as it is for being away for so long :(

But thanks..

Welcome back, Ian! Missed ya, buddy - your posts are some of my favorite reading!

Cheers Duff

Hiya Stephen, it's great to be back.

Hhmmm an update on the six wheel beast.. Yeah, I guess it is time for an update.

Not much has happened to it other than collecting a nice thick layer of dust.

As ever cash flow isnt helping, that and getting distracted by other things... er... C-125, Raider 10 engine, snowplow/blade thingy rebuild, moving an internal Workshack wall.... the list goes on..

But fear not, work will restart shortly as i have been collecting a few bits and some more steel to get some real strength into the chassis..

Still need to order some more welding rods..

Just a small update on life with the C-125.

I found the main reason the engine was running a bit rough.

The muffler had a hole in it..

Not too much of a problem but this hole was blowing hot gasses onto the points cover

The hotter the engine got the more it miss fired.

P4260179.jpg

Soon had it fixed but putting the original muffler for the engine back on.

I had to cut it off when the engine was fitted to the Raider 10 and it was stopping the hood closing :omg:

Anyway with the new (or is it old) muffler on the engine runs much better and only started miss firing a tad after 3 hours solid use cutting grass and driving around the fields.

The engine also runs a lot cooler now as well which can only be a good thing as it was getting rather hot.

100_7174.jpg

A tweak of the mixture screws on the carb should sort out the very slight miss fire, more grass cutting coming up so that should test the engine out..

Might even get a vid of the ol 'orse in action
