Making a KT/Magnum LH head tin

Recommended Posts

So, I've noticed a common issue with the KT/Magnum twin engines. They are always missing the LH head tin. A lot of previous owners clean out grass behind the tin and never put it back on, so it gets lost. I've seen many a post about people looking for the LH head tin. I'm making a basic blueprint for the tin, and once I get ahold of my snapper LT18, I'll be able to get detailed measurements of it.

Shouldn't be too hard to make, it's just cutting some thin aluminum then bending.

Good idea. Folks have no idea how important those are for proper cooling.

Yep. My M18 has the head tin, but can't say the same for a lot of others. Gonna copy the original design, then get some 1/16" steel to replicate them. I'm gonna make probably 20-25 tins, and sell em for 20$-25$ plus Shipping. I don't have many tools but if I get some good metal shears (we have electric shears but they broke on 1/8" steel) and a good set of drill bits it should be a breeze.

Got a template made. Now to order a sheet of steel, a couple hole bits, and some new metal sheers.
