ronhatch 406 #1 Posted October 6, 2019 Because I always worried about the 50+ year old diaphragm leaking gas into the crankcase on my 867 w/ a K181, I removed the fuel pump and replaced it with a nice home made 1/8" thick aluminum cover. The gas now flows using gravity only. My question is; Should I vent the crankcase by drilling a hole in my new aluminium cover plate and installing a hose fitting and running a hose to the backside of the air cleaner housing? Or better yet, installing a simple 'pull out' dipstick and let it vent through that and doing away with the PITA screw in type?
