barns1 57 #1 Posted April 18, 2009 :omg: I picked up a C160 8spd that had been partially restored. It needed to have the wiring hooked up and a couple of other things done. Well I finally got the wiring all connected today but it won't turn over, not even a click or anything. I jumped the starter and it turns the motor over fine. It has a new starter, solenoid, ignition switch and battery. I even took a battery, ignition switch and solenoid off my C100 and tried them still nothing. I went through the wiring harness and verified it against my C100. The only questionable thing I saw was the connector plug for the regulator. It has, I believe, four terminals in the plug but the regulator only has three terminals and then the plug terminal layout only will connect to two of the three terminals on the regulator. My question is this, could this be the wrong regulator and would it keep the tractor from turning over? Thanks again for all your expert help!
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #2 Posted April 18, 2009 Do you have 12VDC to the "B" terminal on the ignition switch? Do you have that feed wire hooked to the correct side of the solenoid? Do you have a good ammeter and are the two connections secure? Are there any safety switches in use and are they functioning correctly? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The wiring for the charging system has nothing to do with the starting or ignition circuit. It can be totally disconnected and the other circuits will still function.
