The Tuul Crib 7,338 #1 Posted October 4, 2019 Been looking around online and the local auto parts stores for deglazing hone . They all had the same hone with only one set of stones and they could not even tell me what grit the stone was . Anyone have their favorite one they use? oldredrider 2,553 #2 Posted October 4, 2019 Since you're just knocking down a glaze, an auto parts store hone will work. They have adjustable jaws for more or less pressure as needed.

Tractorhead 9,139 #5 Posted October 4, 2019 Think @WHX24 meant the Flex Hone. There was no differently grid stones available, just differently Diameters. each has a usable Range from x til y. I had three, i used them at several Engines (from Motocycle to Truck Engine) to deglaze with good success, they‘re not cheap, but long term usefully. i also used them for rough cut in cylinders with best results. I be a big fan of and i just used the Brand Flexhone. No idea, if there other brands available. The three leged ones has the advance of wider adjustment with a spring load, the Flexhone has just in its range. but the Flexhone can‘t be set to overstrenght, so an overheat at the stones and at least surface can not be done. The oldest i purchased together with a friend, was now about 12 years old and has several uses behind, but is still in usable condition. Imho it depends what you wanna do with them. for small things like Brake calipers, intakes or small cylinders, i used a 2 leged one. For all other purposes we uses the Flexhones.

They come in many different grits, you have to specifically ask for the grit and diameter you are looking for or need as most parts stores only carry 1-2 sizes and grits that are used most commonly. https://dannysengineportal.com/ball-hone/. 1

pacer 3,176 #9 Posted October 4, 2019 I too prefer the ball type (around here its a 'dingleberry' hone) Its couple minor drawbacks are limited to a specific range of bore, and they can be a bit expensive to have several. The adjustable hone is still a good hone and being adjustable and a one time cost make it desireable
