Rusty wheel Rims

Recommended Posts

redone

Guys. I have a front wheel rim off of a 1045. Sand blasted it, painted it. Mounted the tire. Holes appeared as we air the tire. Holes came threw are the tire deflated. After removing the tire, I am going to fix those holes.

Question? Is play a good way to spread all over the inside of the rim? Or is there another way. By the way. The tire is a 3 rib. Very stiff. No inter tube will work

I would use PC-7 or JB Weld.

I second the JB weld.

Where are the holes? If they're in the center of the wheel and not on the sealing surface, it shouldn't be a problem to JB weld it. On the bead of the wheel you'd probably have to spend some time sanding it smooth enough that the tire would seal properly. From a structural integrity standpoint, hopefully the wheel is only thin in certain spaces and not all the way around.

I second the PC-7 :handgestures-thumbupright:  I first picked it up to do some body filler to Putt Putt.  I then spent more time trying to smooth it than it was worth!  I’ve since used it for various filler projects and cannot believe how dang solid and hard the stuff gets.

I agree with all the above and would add

tubes to that as well.
