p38js 401 #1 Posted September 9, 2019 Ok guys, I finally tracked down a Kohler K91T with a retractable pull start for the suburban my daughter and I bought at the big show, I need some help and ideas on what to do about the exhaust. The block is not threaded and I can not find an adapter that is 1 1/4” between mounting stud centers. I’m thinking I will need to fabricate my own adapter unless you guys have a good solution to my problem.
Racinbob 10,281 #2 Posted September 9, 2019 I tapped mine to 1/2" NPT, used a short nipple and went to 3/4" pipe. It threads easily and the smaller nipple won't harm a thing. Make sure you take precautions to keep shaving out of the engine.
Lane Ranger 10,495 #3 Posted September 9, 2019 I had one like that threaded at a machine shop and it cost me $25. I did not have a tap for it and my vise and tool bencgh was not adequate to hold in place anyway.
p38js 401 #4 Posted September 9, 2019 Thank you guys sounds like a good plan, I will look into a tap and check the machine shop.

AMC RULES 36,945 #9 Posted September 9, 2019 Pretty easy to do. But, if you only do one in your lifetime... the local machine shop is the way to go.

It taps very easily. I started with a taper tap and followed up with a bottom tap. 1 hour ago, p38js said: I have been looking at them, probably will order one soon. Always skeptical to the quality on EBay That's where I got both the taper and bottom. They were cheap but seem to be good quality. I'm not gonna be doing 100's of them anyways.
AMC RULES 36,945 #16 Posted September 10, 2019 No need to bottom the tap out... couple decent threads is all it takes.
Racinbob 10,281 #17 Posted September 10, 2019 After I did the first one the taper tap went deeper than I thought it would. I picked up the bottom tap because I didn't think it would. I used it anyways to better hide the 1/2" close nipple.
