cafoose 3,456 #1 Posted September 8, 2019 This GT-14 jumped on my trailer at an auction today! The auctioneer said it runs but has problems with the hydro. I now have four GT-14 horses in addition to my others I may build a custom GT-14 someday The air compressor was only $17 2
953 nut 60,383 #2 Posted September 8, 2019 (edited) The Left rear axle looks like it is sticking out more than it should. Do you know if the lift works? Wonder if the transmission problem is a broken axle? Could you push it with the tow valve closed? Edited September 8, 2019 by 953 nut fat finger 1
Chris G 3,361 #3 Posted September 8, 2019 Nice addition and I do see the Same issue with the left rear tire sticking out farther. But it does look like the hub is a good ways off the axle in the side view photo.

I tried opening the tow valve with pliers and the pin handle broke off so I took it out of park and it pushes easily you may have a point there Never had it running so unsure about the lift Edited September 8, 2019 by cafoose

Wonder if the hub slipped off the axle and the key dropped out? Wouldn't that be wonderful.

This doesn't look right and the left axle is 4 inches from the housing and the right hub is flush with the end of the axle and 3 inches from the housing Maybe when I unload it I will jack it up and turn the left wheel to see if the axle turns with it. Bill D 2,282 #7 Posted September 8, 2019 Does the air compressor have check valve on the pump outlet? If not, you will need to install one. Also, air tanks can be dangerous try to get a look inside before you use it. Look up air compressor explosion on You Tube. Nice tractor BTW. Bill

Pollack Pete 2,273 #11 Posted September 8, 2019 (edited) Nice GT-14.Nice compressor too.I like working on and rebuilding old compressors. My main air compressor that I use every day is a 1956 Wayne with an 80 gal vertical tank.My " newer " compressor that gets used almost as much is a 1968 Kellogg-American with an 80 gal vertical tank.Working on an old Leroi right now that has a 60 gal horizontal tank. What brand is your 17dollar compressor? Looks good to me.Have fun with your new toys.Like others have said...….check out that tank. Edited September 8, 2019 by Pollack Pete 1
Zeek 2,286 #12 Posted September 8, 2019 That tractor has a lot of potential. It's not a total rust-bucket. I had hoped to get one of those in PA before I left, but I could find any that were in decent shape at the time
