ktowndave 5 #1 Posted September 7, 2019 I am going to do a partial possible full restoration and have a few questions and looking some parts. My tractor is a gray GT 1800, 48" side discharge deck, the original deck was a 36" rear discharge. Questions: What is the actual color of gray and red? What size of mowing blades for a 48" deck? Will spindles from a 36 or 42" deck fit on a 48" deck? Is there any way to refresh faded decals? Don't really want to purchase a set of new decals. Looking for: A battery box and the hold downs. Deck wheels and rollers. Thanks for any answers, Dave

daveoman1966 3,841 #5 Posted September 7, 2019 Spindles for a 42 and / or 48 are the same....top pulleys are different dia and bore size. I have one spindles on Ebay to fit the 42 or 48. Spindles for 36" are much shorter. Also have 7 or 8 sets of Anti-scalp rollers...with mounting bar....Very good cond. These have NEW nylon bushings / inserts. Can probably find s matched set of Gage wheels too.... For more pics and details....send request to me at: My email is: daveoman@windstream.net
AHenry014 127 #6 Posted September 9, 2019 (edited) If that were mine, i would be trying to save the patina! Being a Work Horse, it is supposed to be grey. Often confused for primer with stickers. I would be restoring everything around it like the engine tins/covers, clean up the wheels, clean and paint the deck. Some matte clear over the tins once cleaned would preserve the current look, which i really like, but to each their own. Look into the "comet wash". Id bet the color would come back more than you think! Edited September 9, 2019 by AHenry014
