By all means, get in the car/truck/whatever and get over there. The fact that it has been sitting wouldn't hurt it as long as it runs and drives well.   I would inquire about the reason it has been sitting. Once you get it home you will want to replace the motor and transmission oil and do a bit of engine maintenance, just the routine stuff.

I have a 310-8 and really like it. I paid $450 for mine, but it was in really nice shape. If it runs good and not all rusted, its worth $300 in my book.

The wheel weights are worth $100 to $150, so $150 for the tractor is excellent.

I paid 250 for this 308-8. Dump cart not included. I just had to replace the mule drive. Kohler magnum engines are bullet proof.
