Your measurement makes pretty good sense. I'm aiming for an outside width of about 38 - 40 or so.

Are you going to have enough clearance for those taller wheel and tires, you have a big wide engine upfront.

That’s where a swept front axle would be a benefit for clearance, width and heavy duty.

I certainly agree that the larger spindles would be a benefit.

 

One big problem with that is the state of Maine is under a Shelter In Place Order until minimum May 1st, likely longer. 

 

I'd like to get this to a "rolling chassis"  state fairly soon.

Don't know the width on the Black Horses front wheels. Most likely the same as Lee's. Looks like we used the same trailer wheels etc.

By overall concept I agree.

 

I don't know all the details but the legal definition of a farm in Maine is loosely, Must be more than 10 acres... Must be in the business of raising and selling something. Can be plants or animals. From there you just have to register by calling yourself something.

It's been awhile since I checked but it seems like you need to meet two of the three following requirements.  Be over 20 acres and you need to generate above so much of your income from the land. or so many acres has to be in farm production. They are trying to keep tillable land of being broken up into small plots. Also only four residents to a section. We own farmland but because our home is not on that land and is only 8 acres it is not considered ag land and therefore taxed higher. Go figure.

Here it gives two type of Farms,

the typical Farmers with several acres of Farmland or Animals they be Fulltime supported,

or the so called „hobbyist“ or sparetime Farm, that means you have a own Tax number for Things you wanna purchase,

but you ain‘t do that in your meantime. That mean you have a Job and do the Farming in your spare time.

Therefore you just to have several sqaremeters of Farmland, once your own or leased.

 

The biggest difference between them,

The Main Farmers have to have at least 4 Ha. owned Farmland or at least 10 own Animal like Pigs or Cows

and are able be free of Taxes for their Tractors and get a green Licence Plate,

but their Tractors are just usable for Farming purchasing Farm- dependent Shopping  or for Traditional events.

 

 

The so called sparetime Farmer don‘t have here the ability for a Taxree Tractor, but can do whatever they want with it.

Travelling or something else. They don‘t must have an own Farmland or even leased Farmland.

Here's a picture comparing the stock horse axle and the custom axle I'm thinking about modifying for use.

 

The custom axle makes a tractor sit about an inch higher than stock.

I believe that was done to allow the frame to be level with the tiny wheels/tires that were on it.

 

 

I'd cut at the blue lines. Take a piece of 2" square tubing and put the center section on TOP in the middle. The 2 outside pieces BELOW at the ends.

 

This would accomplish 2 things.

A. Obviously extend the length.

B. Raise the tractor 2" + in the front to allow for more tire clearance and also ground clearance.

Or more like a plate like a railroad track holding the two rails together? Just welded, not bolted....
