Murphybart1262z 4 #1 Posted August 30, 2019 Hello forum, I am considering a purchase of a very well maintained D200 W.H. with a deck, blade and wheel weights. If I decide to buy it I will pick it up on Saturday, but I am very unfamiliar with W.H.'s. I have had Cubs all my life and know them well but this is a step into the unknown so I am asking for some general advice on what to look for: common problems, sources for parts, manuals, etc. A lot of questions but I humbly ask your help. pacer 3,177 #2 Posted August 30, 2019 Ahhh the "Big D's" I guess there is sorta a love/hate for this model horse, those that luv em (like me) and those that ... well, hate is too strong ... dislike? them. It is a big, beefy, brawney, tough, etc garden sized tractor, with the powerful Kohler twin and hydrostat drive, it takes virtually all of the attachments that were made for this size (If it has PTO & 3 point, they were an option) It is totally way beyond any of the big box store tractors, possibly being comparable to a dealer offered JD (at about 10 grand) My current D200 does not have either 3 point or PTO, so I just cut grass with it and run my cyclone rake. I have a D160 - a brother to the D series - with a 3 point, no mower, and I use it for all the general chores - mostly pulling a trailer. Downside/s --- that big kohler twin is beginning to have parts problems - course most 40-50 yr old stuff does! The Sundstrand hydro drive can be a problem usually causing a major tear down (tho parts are still fairly available) Drive the tractor when warm - if possible - and butt it against a tree or something and engage the drive, it should start throwing dirt easily. The steering can become sloppy, but here parts are available, tho is a bit of a pill to get to. And of course it is old and there will no doubt be things that crop up as with most anything that has this many years on them. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Kohler engine and Sundstrand hydro for example. Like the super Cubs, say a 982 for example some D-series implements will only fit the D- series. I am unsure of his stock, but Lincoln @A-Z Tractor is a vendor here on the site. I very much appreciated it. Sadly and very disappointingly, after agreeing on a price and a time this morning to meet me and purchase the unit, I get a message that the seller sold it out from under me. It is a good thing I went to my phone to give him a heads up we were leaving for his place or I would have never know he broke his deal and agreement with me. To say I am disappointed is putting it mildly - I was looking forward to owning it. Well, onward to the next. I can only hope it will involve you guys. I appreciate your help.
