Brian Roach 5 #1 Posted August 26, 2019 Hi I am new to this forum. I have a 1972 GT14 Model # 1 0502 7. I was changing the tranny fluid when I noticed a lever next to the oil filter( Forward of) . Does anyone one know what this attaches to. Also I have a rubber bungee cord that holds the idler pulley up until needed. Does anyone know what this is missing so I can replace part and get rid of the bungee. I purchased this machine from Mark on Long Island. So pictures already on the site. Small Ark loader on front. In this manual the GT-14 is identified as 1GT Here is a parts list only that Toro has identified as 1972. Click on the picture to see notes on this file. Brian Roach 5 #7 Posted August 26, 2019 Hi Daveoman 1966 , reposted the pictures of the GT 14. Along with the pictures of the engage handle( bungee held) also of the lever next to filter. When I look down from top it look like lines up , from handle to lever. Is there a linkage or a spring missing. Thank you, g west_ca for the link. Saw the exploded view that is how I figured it was a brake lever. Just does not show how to attach. This is the part I need help with. Does anyone have pictures of how it is mounted? There is a picture of the drain plug that I replaced. Along with original filter I think. Only removed 2 1/2 Quarts. (Red) replenished with 1gallon. Barely touching dip stick. Any thoughts anyone. Brian Roach 5 #11 Posted August 27, 2019 Also thank you to gwest_ca / ie: Garry, for sharing the belt install information, clearly shows the spring in use. Also had my tractor on stands, running and tranny engaged. Let run for twenty minutes. Rechecked fluid level. Not even touching dip stick. Just changed fluid removed all old fluid and filter. 2 1/2 quarts taken out. Put back in 1 gallon. Just touching dip stick. Ran it now not even showing on stick. Should I add more fluid. Brian Roach 5 #15 Posted August 28, 2019 Thanks, any thoughts on the tranny fluid dilemma. Remove 2.5 replaced with a gallon . Ran machine on jack’s for 20 minutes. p38js 428 #16 Posted August 28, 2019 (edited) Brian, according to the owners manual the transmission holds 5qt of fluid, so it sounds like it was low before you drained the old fluid. If you already added a gallon that is 4 qts I believe so add one more and that should bring it up to the dip stick. Also make sure you are using a hydraulic filter and NOT an oil filter I use NAPA filter p/n 1410 or a Wix filter p/n 51410, these are a little bit more expensive than oil filters but it is cheap insurance in my mind because it is getting harder and harder to find parts for the hydro rear ends these days. if you still have the front end loader on it might take a little bit more oil than what the manual says, i’m not 100% on that since I don’t have a loader but common sense says it will take more to fill the extra actuators and lines. That lever that the spring attaches to is the parking brake lever and the belt tensioner all in one never pull that lever when you are moving it will brake off in side the rear end and cause all kinds of havoc.- Jeremy Edited August 28, 2019 by p38js Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Brian Roach 5 #17 Posted August 29, 2019 Thanks, I ordered the spring from EBay. Should be here on 9/3. I replaced filter with a puralator temporarily. Want to flush have the wix to go in next. Still up on stands. I will add the quart to see what happens first. The Ark loader is a separate unit. With fluid in the uprights. This is going to be used for Snow and some cleaning of the woods behind my house. Thank you so much for your help. Still cleaning and painting unit.
