Snopro44 0 #1 Posted August 21, 2019 Hi everyone, Just purchased a 1992 Toro Wheelhorse 310-8 for use at the cabin. The steering wheel is quote loose on the shaft - ie the "bushing" in the hub of the steering wheel itself is all worn out. Has anyone ever re-bushed a steering wheel or have a recommended fix short of buying a replacement wheel? Many thanks. Jason

Lee1977 7,232 #3 Posted August 21, 2019 I have a 1989 520 that the steering wheel is loose on the shaft. I think they went with pot metal on the later style steering wheels. I haven't done anything with mine but I plan to remove that hub and epoxy in a steel hub may have to drill the plastic wheel out as the wheel wobbles a good bit. Don't know if it will work and was waiting until after mowing season.
lynnmor 7,858 #4 Posted August 21, 2019 I cleaned up the shaft and bushing on a 520H, then applied Loctite 609. It worked well for the past year. If it loosens again, I'll bore and bush the steering wheel.
Snopro44 0 #5 Posted August 22, 2019 Thanks all - will try epoxy first and re-bush as a fall back. Jason
