JPenman311 1 #1 Posted August 18, 2019 I did some searching and I couldn’t find this issue anywhere on the internet. What’s going on is there is a plug almost looks like a Welch plug on the PTO side right above the PTO housing. And it’s leaking oil pretty good, it also seems like it’s loose. My question is what’s the issue is it a simple plug replacement or is it some kind of bearing failure behind the plug... I’ve never tore down a Onan so I’m not familiar with it. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
cleat 7,259 #2 Posted August 18, 2019 My HC did the exact same thing. That caused 2 problems, the obvious oil leak and also due to the air that was getting sucked into the crankcase it was blowing oil into the breather as well. A new welch plug solved both problems. https://www.partstree.com/models/31-20oe02-520-h-toro-garden-tractor-1989/engine-cylinder-block-13/ #2 is the plug. Just put a very small bit of sealer around the outer edge of the plug then insert and peen the center in a little until it is tight.
