kajamo240 3 #1 Posted April 13, 2009 :omg: I have a '76 B-80 and I had just bought a new plow for it this last summer but when I was plowing, the shift lever came completely de-attached from the rear end. Its is currently sitting on the top of hood. I am wondering, is this a really hard fix to attach back into the rear end? Looking at it, it seems like I would have to take the entire thing apart. Anyone have any other ideas? It's currently stuck in neutral. Any information would be helpful! Thanks!
CasualObserver 3,411 #2 Posted April 13, 2009 Quick and easy fix. Hopefully this answers your question. http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/index.php?showtopic=2947 Note to self and other mods.... we've got to get this in the FAQ. ( a nice write-up with maybe a couple of pics)
kajamo240 3 #3 Posted April 13, 2009 Thank you LH! I think that you were the person that I bought the blade from...maybe... . I will take a look at it tonight when I get home. Is the set screw and jam nut easy to find? Is this a part that is easy to purchase a replacement? (Other than jamming a nail in it) I am guessing that it is lost in my gravel driveway somewhere... Thanks again!
CasualObserver 3,411 #4 Posted April 13, 2009 Hey Matt, yep, that was me. Did you get some good snow plowing time this year? You guys had a little bit more snow up that way than we had down here. The set screw is a long one with a tapered end that fits into the dent of the ball on the shifter and still allows it to swivel around. It's readily available at any Toro service shop. They'll probably have it in stock. Hopefully yours isn't lost yet, it just backed out and is just loose, or even just laying there.

tunahead72 2,543 #6 Posted December 29, 2011 (edited) Quick and easy fix. Hopefully this answers your question. http://www.wheelhors...?showtopic=2947 Just noticed that this link is pointing to the wrong thread, probably happened during one of the recent forum conversions. Here's a more recent thread on the same topic, with some really nice photos from Bob (rmaynard): EDIT: By the way, that's the same thread that shows up as "Gear shift lever repair" under "Very useful posts".
