310-8 governor/ over revving issue

Recommended Posts

AHS

This is my fathers 310-8. It starts and runs fine, but 1/2- 3/4 throttle is all she wants! Then it’ll start over revving. My fathers got the 310 off a guy who said he had the carb apart... I just wanted to be sure that all the linkages were up to snuff. He has mowed the lawn with it 3/4 throttle for 4 years now. Are the spring ends in the right place? Is it even the correct spring? The last picture, the cam; is that in the wrong place?

Ok, I’ve visited youtube, and I have learned how to set the governor... we’ll see how that goes!

I  definitely would clean the engine

some. It could help prevent the possibility

of over heating. Check also the manuals

section.
