Bill D 1,577 #1 Posted July 16, 2019 I saw thread on here that mentioned that the older decks had steel spindle housings. Could the steel housings be rebuilt using parts from the newer spindles with aluminum housings? I would love to replace the aluminum spindles on a deck I hope to one day refurbish with steel ones. Has anyone tried to make them? Bill
953 nut 51,024 #2 Posted July 16, 2019 Unfortunately the spindles from the newer decks are not a direct replacement item for the older steel housings . The shafts they use have a different blade type ( Double "D").
Bill D 1,577 #3 Posted July 21, 2019 I was wondering if the spindle housings have the same dimensions, bolt pattern etc? I would like to use the newer spindle shafts, spacers etc to build spindles I can install in a rebuilt deck to eliminate the rot prone aluminum housings.
