Deere Hunter 54 #1 Posted April 11, 2009 Just about ready for the pulling season to kick off here in my area. Last weekend I took the Open Super Stock to the track for test and tune. Thought I would share a video of one of the three full pulls it made that day. You can view it here.... Enjoy! :omg:
WHC-125 4 #2 Posted April 11, 2009 That is truely amazing I wish I had half of the talent to come up with something like that What does it have for a motor and tranny? Its shaft driven right?
Deere Hunter 54 #3 Posted April 11, 2009 Runnin a Kohler Command bored to 48 cubic inches as far as the trans and rear. Uses a CC housing with all aftermarket internals with Dodge Dart carrier and axles. :omg:
Butch 194 #4 Posted April 11, 2009 Sweet lookin motor. Dodge Dart? You know how many people are wondering what the heck that is? Maybe you should gotten a 340 6 pack from a Dart and stuck it on the tractor!
bo dawg 517 #5 Posted April 11, 2009 sweet Never would of thought mixing Mopar with a Horse. What would you call it.... Mo'horse? just a thought :(
Bow_Extreme 550 #6 Posted April 11, 2009 Wow!! That is one amazing tractor. Maybe someday I could get myself into something like that. My neighbor across the street has a full size 6 engine heavily modified puller. I don't know if he's pulling anymore or not but I love to see him get that tractor out every now and than. The whole neighborhood knows when he fires that thing up. Now if I could just strap the horsepower your pushing onto my 520H for regular use there would be no end to the possibilities. Docwheelhorse 2,740 #8 Posted April 11, 2009 Good Run... But I think another 1000 RPM's would of helped How many RPM's is that thing running??? I was ready to put a scattershield on top of my monitor in case something happened in the video!! Tony
Deere Hunter 54 #9 Posted April 11, 2009 Good Run... But I think another 1000 RPM's would of helped Actually Tony, I am looking for another 1000 RPM's out of it. I had the biggest jets installed I have and it was still to lean . It was turning 7900 at the end of that pull, with the recall on the tach showing it hit 8700 at about mid track.
Brian1045 28 #10 Posted April 11, 2009  I'd be the neighborhood tractor God if I had that thing to tool around on .

BPjunk 184 #12 Posted April 13, 2009 Wayne, It appears the end of the track was what stopped you, from what I could see in the video the track was really rough towards the end and the sled would get hung up. Wild Bill in Richmond, Va.
Deere Hunter 54 #13 Posted April 13, 2009 It appears the end of the track was what stopped you Good eye Bill. The track is actually designed to help stop the hot stuff after a full pull. At the end of the track it goes up a grade which makes the sled really dig into the track slowing you down.
dkopp 1 #14 Posted April 13, 2009 Deere Hunter....can we take a peek at the rest of the drivetrain on that one...I've always wanted to know how how those are set up. Where do you get those Dart diffs and what kind of tranny are you running?
oldandred 15 #15 Posted April 13, 2009 Wayne I know youre going to be at the show this year with the puller right??

Deere Hunter 54 #17 Posted April 15, 2009 Deere Hunter....can we take a peek at the rest of the drivetrain on that one...I've always wanted to know how how those are set up. Where do you get those Dart diffs and what kind of tranny are you running? The tranny and rear is all in one. Using a Cub housing with all aftermarket internals. The housing has to be clearanced to fit the Dart carrier and axles. But they are alot stronger then stock. I use to run a V-Twin belt drive WH. But I passed the horse power limit of what the belts could hold. It would sometimes destroy the belt before I could move the sled off the line. Hard to slip a belt at 7000 RPM or more. I hate to say it but once a certian power limit is met, you have to go with a clutch/shaft drive setup. The only failure I had for two years was the belt setups on this tractor. Other than that the trans held up to the abuse I gave it. Here is the clutch setup in the Open Super Stock Better pic of the clutch out of the tractor
Deere Hunter 54 #18 Posted April 15, 2009 Wayne I know youre going to be at the show this year with the puller right?? As it looks right now Jerry I will be there on Friday only. The pulling series I pull with decided to schedule a points pull for that Saturday Which really sucks!
ronscat 2 #19 Posted April 16, 2009 Two really nice tractors Wayne. That big kohler looks to be makin' some pretty serious hp!! Again , super nice, Ron
dkopp 1 #20 Posted April 17, 2009 Thanks Deere Hunter....I've always heard about the Dart setups but didn't know if they used a complete rearend (like the Panzers) or something else. Very nice tractors. Now go kill them Deere's! Do you if anyone has tried a belt setup like a harley has. Running a clutch off the drive shaft with a toothed belt to the tranny? Again, thanks for the pictures!
