Front wheel spacing

Recommended Posts

Guest 88vic

I put a different set of rims on my suburban 550. The wheels look good but.....the spacing on the spindle is smaller, I had to use washers to take up the space. This looks awful to me, anyone have suggestions ? Thanks, Wheelhorsefan.

Put the washers on the inside where they can't be seen.

How many washers are we talking?  I built spacers for Putt Putt, they are on the inside as well.  They are washers welded to a tube, then I faced them off in the lathe.

Its pretty common to find rims that are slightly different and as mentioned put the spacers on the inside and you can hardly tell the difference. I use common 3/4" black pipe sawed to the correct length. I ran a set of rims/tires off an old Sears suburban with 3/4" spacers on one of mt D's for about 15yrs.....

Yeah theres 8 total thick washers on the inside, looks hideous. I may try the black pipe idea, I could probably live with that. Thanks guys !

Would a set collar be better?

Nylon spacers don't look too bad. The white kinda looks like part of the rim.
