puddlejumper 67 #1 Posted April 9, 2009 Puddlejumper's Dad here. Went to a retired gentleman's house today that I have know forever, he used to run an at home lawn mower repair shop. I thought I might find an OEM steering wheel for puddlejumpers 856. Well, no luck at that, but he gave me this. Thought the hub caps would be worth loading it in the truck. The only tag round was a serial number tag on side of console, #6356. Question I have is.......What is this? Can anyone give me an idea on what year and model this may be? TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #2 Posted April 9, 2009 It's a 1964 Lawn Ranger. I'll guess it to be a model 34R, but there's a 50% chance that I'm wrong. :omg:

kpinnc 14,589 #6 Posted April 9, 2009 TT, why dont you give one of the other members a chance talk about a topic instead of you taking it over because you know everything Because Chris, he's forgotten more about these machines since breakfast than MANY of us will ever know. Personally, I'm glad he's answering the member's questions. I assume you are just joking anyway, but I have been wrong before... Kevin
puddlejumper 67 #7 Posted April 10, 2009 OK TT .....Thanks! Now, since I cannot find a picture of a 64 Lawn Ranger 34R, or whatever the other choice is, in the gallery; what sets it apart from these: 1964 - 654 1964 - 704 Only thing I think I can see is mine has smaller fenders (without creases) & the mounting bar for foot rest has bend in it. Also, hard to tell, but mine may be physically smaller. Please forgive my ignorance, I'm soaking up as much information as I can. :omg:
Crazywheelhorseman 69 #8 Posted April 10, 2009 The lawn ranger was built as a lawn mower the 654 and 704 are garden tractors which would have twelve inch rear shop like your 856.
Sparky-(Admin) 23,139 #9 Posted April 10, 2009 TT, why dont you give one of the other members a chance talk about a topic instead of you taking it over because you know everything Dont take it personally but your too smart I hope you were only joking young fella That was an uncalled for comment and I'm very happy to have someone like TT with his amount of Wheel Horse knowledge that he spreads around here and asks nothing in return but a little respect. WHC-125 4 #10 Posted April 10, 2009 Everyone, I was just joking and everyone deserves respect on here no matter who it is we are talking about. I and some of the other members would also like to have the equal amount of respect because we also know just as much, if not more and appreciate it if we could all be one big happy family that live in a million different places. :omg:
Duff 206 #11 Posted April 10, 2009 Hey, Mods! I agree that the comment, if meant seriously, was entirely uncalled for, and even as a joke was probably in poor taste. TT is one of the greatest resources I've ever seen, and he's certainly helped me out both on and off-site a number of times. I only hope to get to meet him some time! That said, though, this thread could really get out of control fast. I think the vast majority of the membership knows TT's value, and I'm also pretty darned sure he's man enough not to take a cheap shot - if that's what it was - personally. So, respectfully, I request you close this thread ASAP before the newer members who don't know the backgrounds of some of the principals in all of this get a misguided idea! Newbies, just a few words from someone who's been here for a while - occasionally things here get a bit, how do they say..."funky" and we have to step back and refocus. Main thing is, it's still the best darned Forum on the internet, and Lord knows we have the best tractors! Thanks! Duff :omg:
