D series engine removal

What needs to be done to separate the K482 motor from the hydro pump on a D-180?

 

The sunstrand manual says to remove 4 motor mount bolts and slide engine forward.

 

I am trying to do that and it won't separate.  Motor is free and moves.  Granted, I have not pulled too hard as I do not want to bend or break anything.

 

Do the bolts in the coupling need to be removed as well or am I missing something?

You should not have to remove the bolts from the coupling.  The coupling and splined input shaft on the pump have been married for almost 50 years.  may take some effort to separate them.  One thing to check make sure there is no roll pin driven through the coupling and pump shaft.  That may have been a quick fix at some point for a stripped coupling.  (You did uncouple the PTO control linkage??  Think I forgot that once:P)

PTO is unhooked.

 

I will check for a roll pin.
