Mattbg79 1 #1 Posted April 8, 2009 I need the choke control knob and assembly for the dash, and the cable, and also the throttle cable(the control lever is there still) for my 85 314A. Looking on the parts lookup on the mowpart site it shows the end of the cable on the control assemblys, but when you bring it up on the site under the part# it dosent say anything about the cable, just says control assembly. These both being over $30ea, i want to make sure im getting what i need. Anyone ordered those from there? Is the cable included? Any advice is apprecieated :omg:
WHC-125 4 #2 Posted April 8, 2009 I need a throttle cable for my 312-8 or I need to figure out how to free up the cable.
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #3 Posted April 8, 2009 The correct throttle control assembly is now P/N 115853 (old #110715) for the single cylinder 300/400 models and includes the lever assembly and cable. (nothing else) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I hear the infamous electrolysis frees up rusted cables. :omg:

CasualObserver 3,411 #5 Posted April 8, 2009 It may, but be careful... you'll have to dry out the inside of the cable sheath, and work some graphite in there. You shouldn't use oil, it will collect dust/debris and it'll be just as bad as the rust. I'd suggest a hot summer day and an air gun with the cable pulled all the way out of the sheath. Just a humble opinion.

Docwheelhorse 2,740 #9 Posted April 8, 2009 "You shouldn't use oil, it will collect dust/debris and it'll be just as bad as the rust. " Say What???? I've been oiling all of my cables for years and they work smooth as silk..... They even make a cable oiler just for this task and it sure beats trying to stuff dry powder down a .00000001 hole. CasualObserver 3,411 #10 Posted April 8, 2009 Just a humble opinion Tony, but I'll use graphite 100 times before I oil another one.
Coadster32 793 #11 Posted April 9, 2009 They even make a cable oiler just for this task and it sure beats trying to stuff dry powder down a .00000001 hole. That's funny, but true. I have been oiling cables on boats, jetskis, snowmobiles, tractors, weed whackers, lawnmowers, blah,blah...... for a very long time, and never a problem. Graphite works good on my door hinges at home. I beleive it's all in the maint. of the cables. Chris (WH-125), what R U waiting for on that tank? Get-R-Done :omg:
Bill 4 #12 Posted April 9, 2009 how does one go about getting that dry powder in that tiny little hole??? :omg:
Butch 194 #13 Posted April 9, 2009 Docwheelhorse is correct about the cable oiler. I don't know what he has but I bought mine years ago to lube the cables on our dirt bikes. This little tool, which isn't expensive. clamps to the end of the cables and you tighten it down. There is a little hole for one of those plastic straws that come with spray cans. That oil not only lubes the cable but flushes out a lot of crap. It suprisingly gives those cables a good blast. I also used an oil that was for cables and don't know if it's any different than WD-40. I use it on all my cables and even friends like to borrow it. Here is the link for the oiler and lube. http://motorcycle.motorcycle-superstore.co...w=cable%20oiler
