snowhound 105 #1 Posted June 18, 2019 A friend has a 416-8 with a Kohler K series motor that blew the main fuse to the extent that it melted the plastic on the fuse. Installed a new fuse and started the tractor and let it idle for about 10 mins. and checked to temp of the fuse, it was getting hot so we pulled the fuse with the motor running and the motor remained running after the fuse was pulled! What would cause it to keep running? It did stop when we used the key and wouldn't start again until the fuse was replaced. Removed the fuse again and again it kept running. Any ideas? Instead it has a magneto ignition. To turn the engine off you are actually grounding the coil out when you turn the key to the off position. gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,393 #3 Posted June 18, 2019 Probably a 1985 model that has battery ignition and a 3 amp charging system to charge the battery. I can see how the single diode to rectify the AC current could feed the ignition without the battery because the fuse was out. Garry
