81blackhood 168 #1 Posted June 15, 2019 My C-125 has a busted rod. I was planning on rebuilding the original motor or using it for a core and buy a remanufacture motor. Recently my brother in-law told me he has a friend with a good motor that he would sell cheap. I’m not sure if the motor will work as there are many variations. My my motor is a K301AS. Spec no. 47742d The other motor is a K301S. Spec no. 47421b
pfrederi 18,686 #2 Posted June 15, 2019 (edited) Worth looking into. You would have to take off your shaker plate (isolation) engine mount. The new engine has a full size oil pan and base and would bolt directly to the frame You might have to use j hooks for the PTO side of the engine as the oil pan may or may not be drilled and tapped for up from the bottom mounting. (you could always pick up a used pan if it wasn't) The new engine was made for Norcar. The length and diameter of the PTO end of the crank shaft is the big potential issue. It may not be long enough Edit: According to the parts diagram both engines use the same number crankshaft 4614221-s so you may be OK...but I would measure to be sure. Also both engines are battery coil ignition so no rewiring headaches.... Edited June 15, 2019 by pfrederi 2
81blackhood 168 #3 Posted June 15, 2019 Thanks for the info. I will measure the crankshafts. Would swapping the shallow oil pan over be a option if I grind down the oil slinger on the rod?

Losing the isolation mount is a good thing in my opinion.
pfrederi 18,686 #6 Posted June 16, 2019 One thing if you remove the isolation mount you will need to get or make a lower mount for the PTO hoop. WH# 102870 Number 46 in picture
81blackhood 168 #7 Posted June 16, 2019 Yes you are correct on the PTO loop. I think I’m going to rebuild my stock motor. Cylinder looks good and has a .003 over sized piston. I will hone it and put new rings, rod, and gaskets. Thanks for the info. 👍
