Crmaverick 91 #1 Posted June 14, 2019 What’s the correct battery cold cranking amps for a 753 with a Kohler k161? I picked up a new one with 300 amps and it could barley turn the motor over, amps gauge only showing a few amps, bad battery off the shelf?
953 nut 51,611 #2 Posted June 14, 2019 Was everything OK with the old battery when it was charged? Have you attempted to use jumper cables from a car or truck with a good battery? Have all of the cable connections including grounds been cleaned and tightened? Any lawn and garden battery should do the trick. Some times you can get a bad battery from the store. You could take it back and have them load test it.
71_Bronco 1,072 #3 Posted June 14, 2019 Did you charge it before use? Are you able to check the voltage on the battery with a multi-meter to see if it has any juice in it? Could just need a charge.
squonk 38,902 #4 Posted June 14, 2019 (edited) 300 Amps is plenty. More likely bad cables and a worn/dirty starter genny. Read this: Edited June 14, 2019 by squonk
