clutch plate separation

Recommended Posts

JoeA

I bought some new friction material for the PTO clutch. Ideas on how to separate the old clutch material from the backing plate.

I tried a chisel but it comes off in small chunks

Thank You

Ive had good luck using a stiff/coarse cup wire wheel on one of the small angle grinders (HF) No doubt there are many variations of the material, but that'd be worth a try.

:text-yeahthat:  With the age of some of these horses, asbestos is likely to be one of the ingredients in the clutch friction material.
