P216g - parts to replace rear cylinder

I've been working on a 516H. I don't have the model number handy, sorry. 

I went to a lot of trouble fixing the broken motion lever, adjusting the valves, cleaning the carb, etc.

My mistake was not testing for compression prior to all that work. 

So the rear cylinder has 0 compression. The valves are not stuck because I've watched them move when I turned it over by hand. Plus there is rust on diode of the rear plug. It runs, but is hard to start and vibrates bad at idle. 

I've had a p220g with the exact same symptoms and when I took that one apart, the connecting rod was broken on the rear cylinder. 

The front cyl on the p216g only has 80 psi on it as well. 

So, what would you guys recommend for this engine? Find another p216g? Replace parts?

I really don't want to repower it, because it just wouldn't be the same to me. 

Thoughts or suggestions welcome.

First thing I would do is pull the head off of the suspect cylinder. Could be a broken rod, hole in the piston, or a burnt valve..

 

With only 80 PSI on the "good" cylinder, I'm going to assume it's pretty worn out anyways. Maybe it had a flooding issue and it wiped out the rings. If you get it apart and it does have a broken rod, if the crank isn't damaged and the bores look good, I'd buy a rod, re ring it, lap the valves and put it back together.

if you are coming to the show I'm going to have 2 P220 for sale there that I can start for you. If you put another rod in it you have to be careful not to mix old style rods and the new style. T ake it apart and see what is actually wrong with it before you decide what you are going to do with it. good luck
