71_Bronco 1,072 #1 Posted June 5, 2019 Picked up a Commando 8 a few weeks ago. It was running, but needed some attention and some carb tuning. Picked it up with a plow & frame, and a gear-drive 36" deck. I really like the tractor, but am still getting use to the manual transmission. A 1055 recently popped up on CL, but it looks like it is not complete. It has the deck attachment under the motor, but no iddler / "PTO" pedal. Also has a pan-style seat instead of a padded one bolted to the seat pan. Ad only has 1 picture. Other than the short oil pan big block 10hp, is there any difference between my Commando 8 and the 1055? According to the chart in the WH Unidrive manual, the 1055 uses a 5049 trans, vs the 5053 in the Commando. Not sure how the 5049 (1055) stacks up against the 5053 (Commando). Is the 1055 more desirable due to the "big block" stuffed under the hood?
Pullstart 67,093 #2 Posted June 5, 2019 That extra 2 horse powers is noticeable on my butt dyno and there seems to be much more torque, but the big block seems to be more than 25% thirstier!
