Bow_Extreme 550 #1 Posted April 6, 2009 Well. I was in the process of changing the PTO/Clutch pulley assembly. The old Pulley assembly was cracked. The tension was out of adjustment and I think the old pulley got too hot by all indications. Well I grabbed a new pulley from the mower junk yard which appears to be brand new and never used but it had a minor problem. The inner bearing was too small or possibly over stressed when it was originally assembled. That was rather strange but I checked dimensions of the new pulley to the old pulley and they matched. I was going to take the bearing out of the old pulley and put it into the new pulley but no matter how hard you try and no matter how careful you are you can't get the main bearing out without destroying it so after yesterday's attempt to save it I ended up needing a new bearing. Well the Toro dealer wants $25-$27 Dollars for it plus an extra 12 dollars I think for the seal. I called up a local bearing supplier to the company I work for here in Grand rapids. They have the exact bearing and exact bearing seal from the same manufacturer's in stock and they only wanted $10.00 for the bearing and $5 for the seal. Needless to say I said yes I will take it. So, if any of you need a new bearing for your mower or other piece of equipment these guys carry anything and everything and if they don't have it they can get it. Google "Motion Industries". You will for sure find their website. Good Day!!
Kelly 1,033 #2 Posted April 6, 2009 your dealer is soaking you, I think I paid about $15 for the bearing a the seal was $3 I've bought a bunch of seals, and that was from a toro dealer in Lansing.
wheel horse 1045 2 #3 Posted April 6, 2009 were i live in mi. there are about 3 toro dealers in a 40 mile range and i swear they all have diferent prices for the same part
Bow_Extreme 550 #4 Posted April 7, 2009 Generally Speaking. My toro dealer is about the same price as the toro online ordering system. Usually it's within a dollar or 2 for every order I place. They never have a part on the shelf either which really sucks.
WH854 45 #5 Posted April 7, 2009 I bought some parts from a Toro dealer in my area When I picked them up, I paid him I got home and looked at the bill, they charged me freight. So I buy online Toro Store Thats my 2 cents. Chas.
Bow_Extreme 550 #6 Posted April 7, 2009 I believe the online toro store also charges freight on your shipment. Most of their stuff is sent UPS at least to here.
WH854 45 #7 Posted April 7, 2009 They do charge freight. This dealer doubled the price on the parts and still charged me freight. Chas.
