Cee245 823 #1 Posted June 2, 2019 Hi all, I was wondering about the performance of the short chute and long chute. I recently bought a tall chute blower from a fellow RS member. I'm thinking that the tall chute blower will direct the snow a little better? Thoughts? Thanks Cory
lynnmor 7,622 #2 Posted June 3, 2019 Yes it will direct most of the snow better, but they still have a fair amount of scatter from the sides.
doc724 925 #3 Posted June 3, 2019 Single stage tall chutes are great in powdery snow. I had one on my 520xi and it would throw 50 feet. I had another one a 314 and while good, horsepower makes all the difference. That being said, if the snow is slushy it will plug solid. I never had any issue with the side scatter that lynnmor identified.
WVHillbilly520H 10,376 #4 Posted June 3, 2019 Here's the best thing you can do for the tall chute single add the factory deflector (#19) or make your own like I did...as far as short vs tall the tall chute chucks it farther but they are basically the same implement...https://www.partstree.com/parts/toro/snow-blowers-snow-throwers/79360-toro-42-snowthrower-for-300-series-garden-tractors-sn-210000001-210999999-2001/chute-and-rotation-system/
peter lena 9,110 #5 Posted June 4, 2019 its the dryness or the wetness that makes the difference, dry snow will throw easily and far, wet snow will clog up anything. if you are fortunate to live in cold powder snow , the tall chute will make you a happy user, i live in about 60/40 dry and wet, short chute gets it done. wet sloppy snow its the blade all day. i also stay after it to move it while you can , before its cement. my experience, pete
