SylvanLakeWH 24,090 #28 Posted July 28, 2022 Gotta reiterate the absolute need for a dead man hanging off the cables on these winch / cable / come along set ups… heavy blanket, chain whatever to weight down and catch / slow the slingshot if it releases or breaks… I’ve used a prusik knot around cable tied to object being pulled. The workers digging the Erie canal in NY in the 1800's used a system like this for uprooting trees. Larger wheels (6-8' in diameter) and a pair of actual horses. The mules-and-lever is simple and effective with a massive increase in leverage. More elaborate, but when you are building a canal and you have a lot of tree stumps, well, this is pretty clever.
