js5020 111 #1 Posted May 31, 2019 Guys I'm thinking about putting a deck on the 16 Auto. I'd like to go with one of the RDs models preferably a 48" , but it seems as if the 42" version is more common so this is likely what I will end up with? What model deck would I be looking for? Ideally I'd prefer a nice late model deck and can do mods if needed to make it work. I don't have a mule drive either so what am I looking for in this aspect? Thanks. Tool Crib installed a newer model deck on his recent build. It's all here, someone will point you in the right direction.
clueless 3,258 #3 Posted May 31, 2019 I don't think they made a 48" RD deck, I might be wrong, it's happened before.

pfrederi 18,703 #5 Posted June 1, 2019 48" only came in side discharge no rear discharge 48"s.
js5020 111 #6 Posted June 1, 2019 I saw a 48rd in the manual forum, however I failed to see what it fit umm ya not gonna be a 48. Looks like a 42 is the only option in a rd deck. So are all decks pretty much the same? Are all mule drives the same? I know when I put a late model tall chute blower on it I had to modify the mid attaching part for the crank for as it hit the pto clutch, simple mod and I have to remove the drive belt pulley on the blower to get the belt on. gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,510 #7 Posted June 1, 2019 The HMR-1600 rear engine rider is the only model I am aware of that used a 48" RD deck. When you look at an attachment list for a particular tractor if there is a deck missing from the list it is likely because the deck will not clear the rear tires. All the modern 36 and 42" decks for horizontal engine tractors mount to the mid attach-a-matic the same way and use the same mule drive. The 60" deck for the 520 uses a special spring loaded mule drive. The blower drive pulley bearing block needs to be loosened to install a drive belt. I went to a 1" smaller pulley to solve this problem and to speed up the auger as my 520 likes to run at 3200 instead of 3600RPM.
