Why would the hydraulic lift not pick up all the way and the tractor lose speed. The speed lever will return back to mid speed. Should it stay at whatever speed you set it at? Also, I don't think it is all that fast at high speed. It seems my 8 speed is faster in 3rd.

As far as the lift not picking up all the way, it could be a lot of things. Could you be more specific?

If you lift the seat you'll see a bolt with a washer on it that rides in a slot. That's your tensioner for the speed control. Give it 1/4 turn to the right and see if the lever stays in place when you're driving. If not keep turning it a little at a time until it stays put.

Your linkage may be out of adjustment or sloppy and not giving you full travel on your forward speed. with the tractor shut off, push the lever all the forward then look at the slot in the speed control cam (the one with the tensioner that you just adjusted) if you haven't used all of the travel in the cam, then you'll need to look at your linkage and see where the problem is.

Oil level OK in tranny? Did you just change it or maybe it needs a change.

Jim's right on about the tension adjustment, go there first. Second, remove the panel between the seat and front console. Also remove the left lower panel. The parking break lock is on this panel and you will have to push the roll pin out of the handle to remove the panel. The main lifting bracket is under the first panel I mentioned. There is an eyelet made from a threaded rod. This could be out of adjustment. It has a nylock nut to adjust position. Secondly, under the left panel is the Hydro lift cylinder. I've found that this cylinder can hang up if bushing's and pins wear out. The cylinder will start riding on the frame of the footrest. Check all the components in these areas for wear. It doesn't take too long and allows you to service some of these wear areas. It's well worth the time!! If you have more questions feel free to ask.

I will check the linkages under the seat. The fluid is clean and to the full on the dipstick. The deck lifting issue...the front of the deck will raise about an inch or two and that is it. It appears it should lift at least another 2 inches or so. I can still put my arm in between the deck and running boards with the deck raised. I guess I will have to pull the deck back off again and see what is going on under there. It is such a pita with the 60" since it is so heavy.

Trust me I know how you feel. It's worth the time to adjust it properly. I'm picking up an almost new 60" for my current 520H. You should be able to raise the deck almost to the floorboards. Be careful about doing this. The mule drive belt can rub on the tractor itself if you get it up too high.

Another thing to check....That heavy 60" deck can bend the lift T bar. Make sure it's not bent where it's not supposed to be. I had one once that broke in half where the round bar goes through the flat bar, right at the weld.
