Not sure what allowed the pto hub to move out so far from friction disc and it will no longer engage. Included are a couple pictures. Top picture is the pto disassembled. Also found a lot of fine black residue the roller bearing in the hub has a lot of it packed around it.

It looks to me that the pulley and clutch disk have moved back too far. May just be the picture but it looks like the clutch disk is rubbing the belt guard.

Has the engine been replaced? Crankcase looks like aluminum.

Yes you are correct Lee1977 the disc is rubbing the very bottom of the belt guard and I did not see it, thank you for your observation. And yes gwest it is no longer a cast iron block it was replaced by one of the previous owners. I am not sure what the life expectancy is of the aluminum block is, but I don't really run it a lot so it will last me a while, according to the tag it is still a k181.

Is that the grey replacement block color?  Still looks like a cast block... short of the aluminum color.

Actually LEE1977 got me to wondering about it because I had never really thought about it so today I put a magnet on it and its iron. The person I bought it from in Kentucky was not the one that had replaced  the engine and he really never ran the tractor much, so I think it has seen little use until I bought and all I do is pull the yard around with it. I don't think the entire tractor ever seen much use so not sure why the engine even needed replaced, the deck and all is as solid as new, so if it ever done any mowing it was well cleaned after each use.
