Recommended Posts

Was wondering other than the back wheel adjustment how can I raise the front to give me more height for mowing grass I like my grass at around 3 1/2  I get that from the back when the adjustment is all the way towards the rear tire didnt know if i could possible put a bigger tire on the front of the tractor and also a bigger mower wheel on the front

You always want the front of the deck to be slightly lower than the rear.  In your described set up the mower is working twice as hard cutting first in the front then again on the rear.  Also makes a for a poor quality of cut. You might try bigger wheels on the deck then adjust it so the blade tip in the front is about 1/8" lower than in the back.

Standard wheel are 6" diameter.  I have a pair that are 8" dia, which would raise the rear of the deck by 1".  That MAY solve your problem.

These wheels come with shoulder bolt and TWO replaceable ball bearings in each one..  $22 plus 8 to ship to you in USA.

You need to replace the two rear wheels with larger ones not the front roller.

You need to level your deck.

Front wheels should not touch the ground, they are just there for anti-scalp.

Per an old WH dealer, the WH's decks are not deep decks, 3 1/2 to 3 3/4 inches is the highest they were designed for. You may get 4 inches with some taller gauge wheel, but anything above 3 1/5 inches you start to loss lift, air flow, and grass discharge, it will cut but not as good. The best advice he ever gave me was before you make any changes to you deck make sure it's installed and adjusted properly as per the owners manual first, with no more than 1/4 inch drop in the front, and after you make your changes adjust it again. He also said that implement adjustment knob on the left hand console is not :snooty: for your deck.

Before even checking deck level be sure all 4 tires are at 12 PSI

A soft tire or 2 will also cause a lower cut.
