WHGuy413 2,772 #1 Posted May 18, 2019 (edited) Finally no rain to mow in. Other than some stripes not being straight it certainly mows nice. This one was my grandfather's and my little family lives in his house to boot. Chances are I could let go of the wheel and he would take over steering from up there in the big lawn in the sky. He used to mow this yard 2 some times 3 times a week all summer long after my grandmother passed away. I think out of pure boredom. He liked to keep it nice and short but then it would burn out and he would complain for days lol. I mow it once a week and we havent ever had a burn spot. peter lena 9,231 #2 Posted May 18, 2019 i like cutting at the highest setting, your grass height , equals your root system. i just keep after it and its solid and very green. stay after the underside cleaning , on a bright sunny day like you have ,its a perfect time to drop the deck turn it over for scraping and penetrating oil spray it down with the hot sun on it. the heat of the underside will draw in the oil to the metal and help kill off the grunge. check your blades for sharp, maybe grease spindles , check belts . all of this will make your deck live, stay after it , pete

lynnmor 7,787 #4 Posted May 18, 2019 You mentioned some stripes not being straight. First adjust out as much of the play in the steering gears as you can. Check toe-in and adjust that as well, if you have little or no toe-in, the tractor will tend to wander. Those Onans collect grass on the intake grill, I need to clear it almost every lap. You have a bit of grass accumulating and I just wanted to remind you because it is so important.

I work on the grounds crew at a very prestigious school and went to school for landscaping so that's one of the reasons it only gets mowed once a week. I clean the grill thing every few minutes. I'm always worried about it so it constantly gets cleaned. I knew someone would pick up on that in the picture tho!
