Can some of you pros educate me on the Work Horse series? Looking at this GT 1642. Is the Briggs twin a good engine I have a K321S that I just rebuilt. Would  that be better than the Briggs?

The seller is asking $300 seems high with no attachments, slick tires and "old man" seat.

The B&S opposed engine, like most of the opposed engines it seems, have some inherent issues we rarely see in the K series. They seem to wear prematurely, and the B&S is rather well known as a rod-breaker. My 18 is making some awful noises. Currently unsure what is up with it but it is likely getting a 16hp K series sooner or later.

As a tractor, they are OK. More or less just a 3/400 series WH depending how you look at it. I know the 1100 had the small 4 pinion rear end. Not sure on the 16hp.
