Felix 145 #1 Posted May 9, 2019 Hello everyone. I’ve just got hold of a b80 4 speed. It’s the first one I’ve had after looking for one for a few years. Engine well and all gears work ok but the clutch doesn’t seem right. It didn’t seem to engage properly. When I lifted of the pedal bit did engage when the pedal was pushed all the way down. However I think I’ve damaged the belt by doing this. It must have rubbed on something. Can the clutch pedal be adjusted or could it just be an old stretched belt that’s causing the problem? Heres a picture of the old lass. cheers everyone 6 2
Sparky-(Admin) 23,324 #2 Posted May 9, 2019 There are two possibilities, the belt is stretched or the spring that pulls the clutch pedal back is busted or weak (or both).
The Tuul Crib 7,339 #3 Posted May 9, 2019 to the best bunch of folks you wiil ever meet!! That is a great looking machine you got there! I would definitely go with a new belt and spring as well.
Achto 29,433 #4 Posted May 10, 2019 Great looking tractor!! You might want to get the little one some more appropriate clothing though.
ZXT 2,401 #5 Posted May 10, 2019 Great looking tractor! Like has been said, this is a great group of people. I think you'll fit in well - we usually have to coax people into posting pictures of their machines! I second (or third, technically) replacing the spring and belt. Has probably been a while since the belt was changed. If you remove the belt guard you might be able to see what's going on.

There’s no way he will change the John Deere ovies. He would go to bed in them if he could😂 4

Stormin 9,985 #8 Posted May 10, 2019 (edited) First off, You should be able get a suitable spring from an engineering/agricultural suppliers. That is if the old one is still there to compare. You'll have to pop along to Newby Hall. June 8th-9th. There'll be some of us UK lads there. Some of the Yorkshire lads may live near you. One thing I have encountered is the foot rest on the right side being in too far causing interference with the clutch arm movement. Love the stone work on the house and drive way, looks wonderful.

It has some really nice colours n it when it’s dry. Ours has a lot more iron in the stone giving it a slight rusty colour.
Racinbob 11,991 #15 Posted May 10, 2019 When you replace the belt and spring check out the idler arm and clutch pivot arm to make sure everything is tight there.

I had to drill mine out to 5/8" and add oilite bushings. Might what to clean up the peddle and shaft and add a little oil.
peter lena 9,319 #17 Posted May 10, 2019 FELIX , love the picture , start them young. in addition to the for mentioned , belt and spring, take advantage if the removal of the belt guard . that will expose the pulley idler that is spring tension ed bracket. any doubt on the sprocket , replace it , also detail the lubrication in its movement points , it will work with total ease, good luck , pete

I like stacks, a lot. If I have my way, and some time, most every tractor I’ve got wil get one, in some way shape or form. These pictures are from my current project, “Frank” and I welded the supports right to the stack elbow, the support helps to align the stack vertically.

I’ll only need a 90 bend with a sleeve and a clamp. Should be able to pick them up ok 👍🏻
