WH656 9 #1 Posted April 30, 2019 Hi all, wheel horse 656. I cant seem to find what exactly the depth of the v-belt should be? Places around here sell .5" and I am concerned if the tractor takes .31" it will either not work or HIT the belt shield. Anyone have experience on this? Thanks in advance. 953 nut 60,074 #2 Posted April 30, 2019 There is a thread going on S/G Belts that will give you all the information you need.
WH656 9 #3 Posted April 30, 2019 (edited) I may have missed it but I see nothing on there about belt depth or for a wh656. I did not see any manuals with this information I needed either. The closest I can find from a belt dealer is: Outside Circumference 70.00 1778.00 Top Width 0.50 12.70 Belt Depth 0.3125 <-- this has me concerned 7.9375 Edited April 30, 2019 by WH656

On the bottom of the belt it will not only hit the belt guard but it will actually ride right on it. Make sure you get a cloth sided belt. A rubber automotive belt will not work. I think that 5/16 sounds spot on considering its only one place that has belt depth of .31.. just happened to be one of the first places I had looked. Perfectly normal for it to ride on the bottom of the belt guard when you push the clutch pedal down. You'll know you have the right width belt when it is sticking up out of the top of the pulley about 1/16 of an inch or is just level with the top of the pulley. The belt guard is what permits the clutching action.
The Tuul Crib 7,339 #9 Posted April 30, 2019 When it comes to the belt you need there is not alot of difference between .50 and.31. Jmo
Howie 899 #10 Posted May 1, 2019 Only .190 or 3/16th of an inch. Thats a bit sticking up.
WH656 9 #11 Posted May 1, 2019 (edited) Hi guys, thanks for all the helpful replies. I bought a 69" belt and seems to fit fine.. yet to drive it. For some reason the depth of .5 (not to be confused with width) is flush with the pulley which works out well, Edited May 1, 2019 by WH656
