rat1 0 #1 Posted April 3, 2009 i have a 312 that was hydrostatic but when the hydro went out i changed to an 8 speed rearend.easy enough! so i thought.when i run it for more than 10 minutes, when i push the clutch in the belt woulnt stop spinning on the motor.and i cant get it in gear.i left the auto pulley on the motor.waxing works for a SHORT while but not long enough.any suggestions would be appreciated.please email me trinehart93@yahoo.com thanks
Docwheelhorse 2,560 #2 Posted April 3, 2009 Hi--put on a longer belt to make up for the 5" diameter pulley on the engine that the Auto used, 8 speeds use a 4" pulley. The geometry of the belt is wrong and after a bit of use the pulley/belt is heating up and won't release that final little bit to stop. Did you use the belt off of the hydro too? The stock 8 speed belt is Toro # 7374 Good Luck Tony
