WH656 9 #1 Posted April 26, 2019 Hi guys, I got the allen screw off.. was worried about that.. 1/8" allen-wrench. But the pulley doesnt seem to just yank off the crankshaft. Should I use a pry bar? Thanks in advance.
The Tuul Crib 7,339 #2 Posted April 26, 2019 I always use a harmonic balance puller I get from auto zone . All you need is an impact drill! Good luck!
953 nut 60,071 #3 Posted April 26, 2019 First step would be to clean the rust off the exposed end of your crankshaft. Lay the engine down on the flywheel and use some penetrating oil, several applications over a few days. Your friendly auto parts store mat have a tool lending program where you don't have to shell out big bucks to use the proper tool A crowbar is not the proper tool! You will want to use a bearing splitter to prevent damage to the pulley.
WH656 9 #4 Posted April 27, 2019 Okay, thanks guys. I didnt realize it was that much. So I have to ask..putting it on the new crankshaft.. Is that also an involved procedure or does it kinda slide on? Thanks.

Over time the pulley and the shaft have opportunity to get "brown welded" together. If the shaft and the inside of the pulley are clean bare metal, the pulley should slide back on fairly easy. I always apply a thin coat of anti-seize on the shaft before installing a pulley. It helps out for the next time the pulley needs to be removed. 2
