Tractor starts but dies when you take it out of neutral.

I have a 314-8 1998 model Wheel Horse. Starts fine but dies when you take out of neutral. Switch or relay?

That would be my guess, neutral safety switch or perhaps a kill relay. Wiring diagram should be in the manual. If you don't have the manual we will have one here. Let us know.

The neutral switch powers the neutral relay which activates the kill relay in the start mode so the ignition works.

It is possible your seat switch is not closing. It powers the kill relay allowing the ignition to work after the engine is running.
