Chase~N~Dreams 7 #1 Posted April 22, 2019 I am wondering what decks would fit on my 1980 C-125 automatic? I am also needing to know what fluid should be ran in the sundstrand transmission? Thanks in advance
ZXT 2,401 #2 Posted April 22, 2019 (edited) to I believe all decks from a C series that utilize an attach-a-matic will fit, which means any from the early 70s up to the mid 2000's. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong. As for the transmission oil, does it have ATF or motor oil in it? If it has ATF, put Dexron in it. If it's oil, use 10w-30. The filter you will need is a Wix 51410 or a Napa 1410. Oh, and everyone around here loves pictures, whether your tractor is beautiful or ugly! Post some up! Chase~N~Dreams 7 #3 Posted April 22, 2019 Thank you for the info I will have to check the fluid to see as I just started to tear it down for restoration. This is my first garden tractor to restore I’m sure I will be asking a lot of questions in the future here are some pics of it not the best but what I have lol
Chase~N~Dreams 7 #4 Posted April 22, 2019 I bought the wheel horse and a another old garden tractor as a package deal
ZXT 2,401 #5 Posted April 22, 2019 Looks like it's all there! Should be a neat project. Have you had it running? I assume it didn't come with any attachments since you're looking for a deck. One thing - be careful not to get any debris in the filler hole when adding transmission oil. The Sundstrand transmissions have extremely tight tolerances and grit doesn't help them any. What is the other garden tractor? There is a section on here for non-wheelhorse tractors if you're looking for advice on it. Many guys own more than one brand of tractor.
Chase~N~Dreams 7 #6 Posted April 22, 2019 It came with a tiller attached to it and the K301 motor turns over nicely but no I have not had it running yet the other tractor I got is an ariens gt17 with a tiller as well but nothing else
ZXT 2,401 #7 Posted April 22, 2019 That Ariens is neat tractor in its own right! If it turns over without making bad noises and has compression, it'll run. Replacement carbs are dirt cheap if the throttle shaft is worn out on yours. Mind if I ask what you got the pair for? You certainly don't have to say if you'd rather not - I'm just curious what something in that condition goes for.
Chase~N~Dreams 7 #8 Posted April 22, 2019 I got them both very cheap off of a buddy who was Trying to clean up his shop area I paid 60 bucks for both of them 1
ZXT 2,401 #9 Posted April 22, 2019 You didn't get hurt at all. Great buy on both of them - deals like that never come up around here.
Chase~N~Dreams 7 #10 Posted April 22, 2019 Yeah I got lucky on them it’s really hard to find them around Oklahoma where I live and forget about finding parts or at least I haven’t had any luck yet around here everything will have to be sourced online I think
ZXT 2,401 #11 Posted April 22, 2019 The further northeast you go, the more tractors and parts you'll find. I'm in Texas, and the C-120 I bought is the only one I've found for sale within about 4 hours of me since I've started looking actively about 8 months ago. If you need any parts, check out the classifieds section. Facebook marketplace and Craigslist are sometimes good sources as well. When you get to the point in your restoration of needing decals, Vinylguy ought to be able to help you out.
kto434 108 #12 Posted April 22, 2019 That is an early 1980 model and you are fortunate to have the Sundstrand hydro—I have been looking for one in Ohio/Indiana area with no luck so far. A great combo, my opinion—Kohler and Sundstrand. Good job!
Achto 29,433 #13 Posted April 22, 2019 You got a GREAT deal on those 2 tractors. Looking forward to seeing how your restoration goes, keep us posted.
oliver2-44 10,784 #14 Posted April 22, 2019 Yea, were you wearing a when you picked up those tractors. That is an early "Blackhood" WH. Post the Model, Serial number off the ID plate if it still has it and we can tell you the year. I shouldn't give away my sources, But there's a guy in Tulsa, Oklahoma that advertises on Clist has he has Garden Tractor Parts for all Brands. Mike, 918-809-4455. I got a WH part from him about a year ago. PS since you doing a restoration, you might start an ongoing thread in the restoration section to document it and have everything together.......We love Restorations threads with lots of pictures

Chase~N~Dreams 7 #18 Posted April 25, 2019 I know this may be a stupid question but why would my valve stems be on the inside of the wheels? I can’t turn the back wheels around because it will rub if I do

Chase~N~Dreams 7 #20 Posted April 25, 2019 I figured it would be something to do with putting on wheel weights but wasn’t positive thanks
