"Manic-Mechanic" 1,247 #1 Posted April 21, 2019 I had tried to start the tractor and it normally fires right up and push the choke back in and go. Well, it would try sputter and cut out. Gas didn't have that real powerful stench? I rebuilt the carb, reset the float, changed the brittle carb to engine gasket. Tried it would sputter and run choked and then die? Even with carb cleaner, run and die. I drained the fuel almost completely from the tank, noticed some rust on the underside of the cap? Now the clear lense broke and fell off one day leaving the cap vulnerable to water but could that much water get into 2 gallons of gas through that little opening? Enough to cause the issue that I had? I change the gas and she began running again, had to adjust the mixture and idle, then she ran like always........I needed to get some soil into the front side of these scotch brooms we straightened up before more rain hits this afternoon. Man, trying experience and not something I wanted to deal with on Easter Sunday!

Gasoline is lighter than water. Any little bit of condensation will go to the bottom of the tank. Replace the cap, fuel line and filter and add some Seafoam.
"Manic-Mechanic" 1,247 #3 Posted April 22, 2019 So the fuel I drained is OK? I have my eye on a nice cap from Toro.
