New seat for the 314-8!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, just dropping in to say hello! Life’s been crazy lately, but I got a new job and am much happier. My 1.5 year old is growing fast and loves to sit on my wheel horse! She points to the shed and says

“Dactor?”. It’s great!

Anyways, last year I sold my beloved 314-8 to my dad because he wanted something with a bagger. So I took the bagger off my new 312-H and sent it with the 314. So one of the things on his 60th birthday list was a new seat for the WH.

I bought the new seat from amazon but it’s the same seat that’s been sold on that tractor surplus parts website for years. Also, I was pleased to find that a new toro mushroom style seat switch will bolt right in to the seat. Then you just put on new connectors. Simple stuff. Anyways here are  a few pictures.

Dad is looking sheepish in this one because he is out working in the yard a week before being cleared from some surgery he had. He does in fact have a neck, haha.

Good to hear from you James!   :handgestures-thumbupright:   Your Dad isn't working, he is getting good seat time and we all know how therapeutic that is.

That looks a lot like a seat I'm thinking about buying for my 310-8, do you happen to remember what brand and model it is?  And is it comfortable?

And I'm sorry, I forgot my manners, welcome back! :hide:

Dad appears to be enjoying his ride, nothing better than a WH to put a smile on your face. Before you know it your daughter will be mowing the lawn for you and then there will be another car in the driveway with her name on it,they grow up super fast, enjoy her while she's young. Question about the new seat,it looks by the picture that the trim/edging has screws on it, did you add those or are those factory?

Those were factory. Time will tell how it holds up, but I know that edging has come off on other seats of mine, so I was pleased to see the screws!

I'm looking for a seat for my 312-8. The link doesn't appear to be working. Did your seat fit the brackets?

Thanks!

Chip I think you are right. Looks like the link I posted from amazon is no good. Here is the model and part number from your link incase that link goes bad too:

Northern Tool and Equipment:

Model# 135001BK

Looking at the pictures of the bottom of the seat, I think that is the one you want. It was a direct fit to my wheel horse. The toro seat switch fit into the hole and has threaded holes to fasten it to the seat as well.
