Cee245 846 #1 Posted March 24, 2019 Hi guys, I'm not really new here but.. This post will be more like an introduction of myself to everyone. Followed by a question... We had a shed fire last August. I was able to save my much loved 97 416h but lost 80% of tools, benches ect... I have a few other WH's that I'd like protected from the weather. The old and replacement shed is 10x20ft. Insurance helped us through it and I got a fair settlement on building and contents lost. I have had problems in moving the old burnt shed and having the new one built. Now this wasn't a problem because I am storing all my stuff a good friends enclosed trailer. He needs it back asap because of unforeseen life things happening to him. So, today I picked up a 10 x 17 "garage" from HF to store everything till I get my shed built in 1-2 months. Anyone use one of these for Wheel horse storage? Does it work well for say 3 years? Thanks Cory
Tractor boy 239 #2 Posted March 24, 2019 Friend of mine had his boat underneath one. Just be careful in the winter with the snow on the roof. And
ebinmaine 73,034 #3 Posted March 24, 2019 Yep. I've not used one but have several people who have. Watch the snow load as stated. That type of "building" is well known to accumulate condensation inside. Put a decent tarp down and it will slow that issue.
The Gman 476 #4 Posted March 24, 2019 I have a 10 x20. It's going on its 4th year now. Made by shelter logic. I bought the dome style for fear of the snow load. No problems with it and the cover material still looks good but I do knock down the heavy wet stuff if it looks a bit much. The frame is 1 1/2" tube which is pretty decent. Condensation was a problem until I put about 20 groments front and back near the top, that helped alot.
WildmanC120 613 #5 Posted March 24, 2019 I'll help by buying that 48" deck.

rmaynard 16,375 #8 Posted March 24, 2019 I have one. Here is my advice. Be sure to cover the ground with tarps or plastic. Otherwise, ground moisture will be pulled up when the sun hits it. It will condense on the frame and underside of the roof causing rain inside the tent. I found out the hard way by putting it up in the fall and not checking the contents until spring. Everything was wet and there were no holes in the roof. I also put in a bathroom exhaust fan to help eliminate the moisture. Good news is with all the snow we had, I never had a problem.
Stepney 2,354 #9 Posted March 25, 2019 We've had a tent garage for many years in an open field here in Maine. It has been there for nearly 10 years now. I think it's a shelter logic. It gets pelted by weather year round, and lots of sun. What we did, when it was built, was lay two 8x8 beams along it's length, and secure the base of the shell to the beams. This helped firm it up a lot. It's at my grandparents house and rarely gets cleared off, often has snow built up. There was a tear put in it maybe 4" long some years ago which we taped. This has held up well, the rest of the body covering is also in great shape. The only thing that has failed was the lacing holding the zippers to the vinyl. We re-sewed them twice but the sun seems to make it brittle. But after all this time it's still doing well. I'd say 3 years should be easy.
Toasty 52 #10 Posted March 25, 2019 I use one for the my tractor that is used for snow plowing. Because of the snow I had to add extra supports rafters on the roof. They got put on after the shed was together and have worked out good for me. The major problem I had is that i hit it with my boat trailer on the corner and bent one of the main poles. Besides my mistake it has been a good shed for the tractor. If you want pictures of what I did for extra support to handle the snow I can get them tonight.
Cee245 846 #11 Posted March 25, 2019 Thanks for the wisdom guys, Yes, I'd be willing to sell the older 416h and a nice 48" deck... PM me. Yes @Toasty please post those pics, I'd love to see how you did the support of the roof. Cory
Toasty 52 #12 Posted March 26, 2019 I just used 2x4s and plumbers tape to attach them. After the first winter I had to also add Tarp tap in the inside where some of the supports rubbed a lot again the tarp. One of my anchors came out when the ground turned to mud and got some wind which is why the side is pulled in. Adding the supports help the tarp from just collecting a ton of snow between the supports.
Cee245 846 #13 Posted April 7, 2019 Got the temporary shed put up today. I can make it work but I'm not too impressed by the bottom part of it. OEM, the canvas sits too high off the ground which will cause issues. Its "ok" overall. The quality is what I expected. I basically learned that an about $175 temporary (<5 years) shed is a $175 temporary shed! Lol. Lots of extra supports etc. have been added and more needed. Cee245 846 #16 Posted April 8, 2019 Lol Eric, it's the friendly neighbor's cat. There are about 4 of them, but this is the best one. . . They keep any mice and moles out of our house. Wife gets hysterical when mice enter our old house. Lol

When you get a chance I'd be curious to see what those extra supports are. I ask specifically because we've been mulling over getting one of HF's tent garages,. Like you. Cee245 846 #18 Posted April 8, 2019 I put a tarp on the "floor" and put a bunch of 40" x 40" x 1" plywood on it. (Free from work) Also put 4x4s around the 3 sides. I'm not sure how to tackle the door part of my big tent. Lol Cory
