I have a k161 that needs a rebuild. Wondering what the differences are between the two and what parts will interchange?

The K-181 is a K-161 that has been stroked! everything but the connecting rod and crank shaft will interchange.

K-161  2.938" Bore,  2.500 Stroke

K-181  2,983" Bore   2.750 Stroke

I am here John .... lol. I bought one on my bucket list (754) that Jason posted in classified section. He was up front and informed me of the engine problems. I pulled motor apart and found that the flywheel had crack around crank shaft hole. The engine was smoking bad and had a knock. Cylinder needs machining and the crank may need to be turned along with the block could use being milled. I need new flywheel, maybe crank, piston, rings, connecting rod (basically a complete rebuild).

Ah, the elusive and rare 754. Nice score!

I have an engine here that has some broken tabs on the bearing plate, missing some small things but ran. It's a pull start engine but you can swap over the parts you have or use these to build yours, but you will probably still need a flywheel for the stator charging system.

Or are you looking to keep the whole thing original?

Let me know

The cam shafts are different also.  The K-161 is a 2 piece...the K-181 is one piece. :occasion-xmas:
