Stormin 9,976 #1 Posted March 3, 2019 (edited) Went to pick up a rear discharge deck today. Ignore the dirt and grime, it's been in a shed for some years. Paint on the top is quite good, but the paint underneath is very flaky, due to being on an earthen floor. Shell is good and solid with no sign of rot. It seems as it's had very little use as the blades are very sharp and keen, with everything moving freely. A good clean, repaint underneath and I reckon it will be good to go. After loading it into the back of the Disco, the seller mentioned a plough hidden at the back of the shed. He said he thought it was a Brinly. Of course I had to have a look. Lo and behold it was. So that found itself keeping the deck company for the ride to their new home. The share is not rusty. It's got a liberal coating of grease. The deck was on a C-125, also in need of a new home. I have a rear discharge deck; Dad doesn't care for it, but I like it...I wish I had that plow, though!....and I don't even know, as yet, where I could use it, lol. peter lena 8,139 #9 Posted March 3, 2019 stormin, good pick up on that , whenever I see metal like that , the first thing I do is to soak it down with penetrating oil, leave it upside down to soak that in , and kill off the grunge. I do that 3 times a year on my decks , with no painting , I scrape down , spray down and leave in the sun to heat up and dry out. look up my rustproofing deck site on the attachments site, good luck with it , pete Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
